Emotion and physicality were the coordinates of a highly intense evening with the New Babylon Ensemble at the Sendesaal Bremen last autumn. The Bremen-based ensemble, specializing in new music, had commissioned Berlin-based composer Eres Holz for the event. Holz explores existential questions of life and the loss of humanity today. His world-premiere ensemble piece "Brain of Love" gave the evening its theme. Works by Sarah Nemtsov and Elnaz Seyedi, on the other hand, addressed death, mourning, and the unique nature of human existence. The New Babylon Ensemble incorporated electronics and moments of rock music into their performance, offering a wide range of contemporary positions at a high level, presented with intelligent dramaturgy.
