Der Berliner Komponist Eres Holz rührt an Fragen von existenzieller Dimension. Als Künstler will er kein trügerisches Paradies entfalten, sondern den Widersprüchen des Lebens, Ängsten und Grenzsituationen ins Auge sehen. Das Asasello Quartett hat sein Auftragswerk „Dunkle Risse“ ersteingespielt.
Mit seinem Komponieren fragt Eres Holz nach dem Sinn des Lebens. Dabei müsse er sich auch auf Nachteiliges, Unerfreuliches einlassen. „Ohne Negativität verkümmert das Leben zum toten Sein. Gerade die Negativität erhält das Leben lebendig“, schreibt der gleichfalls in Berlin lebende koreanische Philosoph Byung-Chul Han. Das könnte auch Eres Holz gesagt haben. Holz beobachtet, dass man in unserer Gesellschaft heute nur das Positive sehen wolle. Wodurch Oberflächlichkeit entstehe. Sie verleihe den Dingen einen schalen Glanz und verdecke die Abgründe des Lebens. Und nicht zuletzt auch den Tod.

In addition to Sarah Nemtsov, Eres Holz contributed an outstanding work to this rich, thoughtful Forum. His string quartet Dunkle Risse wants to set the negative pole to our society, which focuses only on positiveness. Beauty arises here from pain, from carefully developed, fragile, repeatedly broken up sound spaces in which the transience of the sound leads us straight to the meadow of paradise.
